Rotary Group Study Exchange (GSE) Trip

September and October of 2009 were the busiest of the whole year. The first half of September was filled with urgent deadlines for completing The Ratten Wakes for Savage Mojo and getting things sorted out as I prepared to go on a GSE trip to England sponsored by Rotary District 7170. You can visit the Rotary Foundation's page on the GSE, but I'll give you the nutshell. The point of the exchange is to allow professionals ages 25-40 on a cultural, social, and vocational experience in another country in order to foster a broader network of understanding and potential for advancement in a variety of ways. With my team of three colleagues and our leader, I toured Northeast England over a period of four weeks. We generally stayed with Rotarians, excepting a stay at a hotel for the hosting district's annual conference. While I didn't get to study my vocation in the sense that Rotary expects, I did get ample opportunity to see sites and hear stories of the past and present to fuel the premise of a few adventures and bring a richness of detail to a variety of stories yet to come. The remainder of October was spent catching up and recovering from the trip.

GenCon Debut

In August of 2009, I ran two sessions of Suzerain in the Relic setting for GenCon. I ended up with a total of six players between the two. It was quite interesting and a bit different from running a game with my regular gaming groups. If I did it again, I'd set up cheat notes for the primary components of how the system works.

BWG Birthday

May 12, 2004 was a day of celebration.  Members of the Berkshire Writers' Group submitted new work for critique and reflected on past stories, participants, and sessions.

CCA

In 2001, I was awarded a grant by the Cornell Council for the Arts (CCA).  With it I created two events where I read my original fantasy short stories and poetry.  Both events were free and open to the public, but donations were accepted to benefit the Women's Community Building.
